Can you please check if that still happens with Jaunty and if so if
using --locale fr_FR.UTF-8 (for french) with ltsp-build-client solves
the issue ?

You may also need the language packs for your language installed in the
chroot if the .po from ldm are picked up by the builders and moved to
the language-packs. I'll have a look if I can improve the situation for
Jaunty but don't know how much work it'd be to get it working when
installing from the install CD (as langpacks aren't included in the CD
and we can't use internet during the install).
