Okay the problem was my own. I had compiled evolution from source (2.26.0) a few weeks ago and it mostly worked but had a few issues. I compiled evo an most of the support libs to a non-standard directory (--prefix /opt/gnome2) On a lark I decided to up my Ubuntu to 9.04 Alpha 5 so I could take advantage of evolution/mapi goodness and not have to compile from source weekly. Well it looks like binary distribution evolution was using the libs and the data-server in /opt/gnome2 (something On my end I'm sure I just don't quite know what) I moved gnome2 out of the way and did an apt-get remove evolution evolution-mapi; apt-get auto remove; apt-get install evolution-mapi evolution and I removed the ~/.evolution directory for good measure
