I think you might be right. I installed the distro update via package manager last night and everything seemed to go smoothly until the reboot to load jaunty for the first time. The system hangs immediately after grub loads the OS. tried booting into recovery mode/CLI with the same result- nothing after grub. I'm using SATA drives on an Asus P5QL-EM MoBo. 64b Intrepid ran swimmingly on it save for a few issues with X and my dual monitors.
