How could this be a libparted problem? The live CD recognises the
partitions fine if I select 'Install Ubuntu' instead of 'Try Ubuntu'
from the boot menu (I've installed four times now this way). In any case
I've attached the output as requested. Incidentally, this time when I
booted off the live CD (actually a USB key), I just got a command prompt
this time and not the desktop.

Also, regarding whether the partitions were mounted or not, the first
time I tried some were mounted, but the second time none were.
