It seems that your second Xorg.0.log indicates that you tried to use the
open source "nv" driver, but you still have the proprietary nvidia
driver installed. This doesn't work, sorry. You should restore your
original xorg.conf with "Driver nvidia" again.

So you are saying that if you start the guest suession, another X.org
comes up with just a terminal? (I assume as much). Thus this sounds like
the "failsafe" X.org session if GNOME is not available.

Are you otherwise using standard GNOME? Or did you remove this in any
way?

Can you please log into that guest session, start firefox from there
with

  firefox &

then log into Launchpad, and attach ~/.xsession-errors to this bug
report?
