As of last night, my USB drives began automounting. All updates have been 
regularly applied to date. Last night I applied the "dash" update and noticed 
my drives were automounting. "Dash" has nothing to do with drives or 
automounting as far as I can determine since it is a shell. But it's the only 
update applied that seems to have made a difference.

Up to last night, I had to use the command line 'lsusb' to wake up any
usb device installed into the socket. Strange.
