Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hplip-gui
1. Jaunty Alpha 5-6 2. hplip-gui-3.9.2-1ubuntu1 3. I expect to see an option for "Unload Photo Card" in the HP Toolbox 4. The option is missing, forcing me to use the command-line client (hp-unload) instead. This could be a major issue for non-technical users. Please reference the following link for more details. https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/342132 Basically, HP has removed GUI support in favor of USB mass storage access. However, older printers (such as HP Photosmart 3200) can only unload photos using the GUI tool. To prevent older printers from losing this functionality, I suggest we build legacy packages similar to what's done for graphics drivers. Also, it should be possible to re-add the functionality to the toolbox with a little development effort. Example Packages: hplip-gui (virtual package for installing hplip-gui-392, since it is the latest) hplip-gui-392 hplip-gui-277 etc. ** Affects: hplip (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- HPLIP-Toolbox no longer has gui support for hp-unload https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/342506 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
