i got this problem recent (Hardy).
check the publish history find 2.5.2-2ubuntu5 is deleted:
* Published on 2008-08-01
2008-06-30 19:10:10 CST Deleted Ubuntu Hardy
i386 proposed main python 2.5.2-2ubuntu5
my way to solve it is directly download the packages at:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/i386/python2.5/2.5.2-2ubuntu5
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/i386/python2.5-dev/2.5.2-2ubuntu5
