Public bug reported:
Ubuntu server 6.06.1, i386. Ubuntu server i386 install CD.
I corrupted MBR (grub) on my Ubuntu system that was installed with root
partition at software raid (RAID1, mirror). This was my mistake, I
played with SBM (Smart Boot Manager).
I tried to recover Ubuntu "server" with install CD, I selected RECOVER
mode during boot from CD. Several screens later I found that I cannot
mount root partition (it was RAID1 type). I think that RECOVER CD cannot
handle software raid configurations. Recover CD reported something like
it cannot mount unknown partition.
I created grub floppy on other system and booted from floppy and I saved
my system. It means that root partition was not corrupted... Maybe it
was possible to use grub from recover CD but I was not familiar with
grub few hours ago... ;-)
