omarr that seems fairly odd...as usplash is really a mask with some
user input abilities to hide the boot text...

As you only edited the grub boot menu, I believe that no new initrd was
generated. This might be a bug in usplash. However, I am not the person to
continue examining this bug. I think if you could provide some information
about the system, that might be helpful for a usplash developer.
