Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: network-manager-gnome
After booting my laptop, and logging into my Edgy Gnome Desktop, I am
normally greeted by a Gnome Keyring Prompting me for my password, as
NetworkManager is trying to automatically connect to my home access
point. Ocassionally, after logging in, I do not get prompted for my
keyring password. If I click on the NetworkManager icon in the system
tray, the drop down menu does not display my Wireless Access Point.
Normally, when this happens, I reboot the computer, and when I re-login,
everything works just fine. I have done some more investigation, and I
think I have figured out where the problem is.
My Access Point operates on US Channel 3, although my laptop seems to be only
looking at channel 6.
(I ran iwlist eth1 frequency, and it returned my current channel as 6. )
After running:
sudo iwconfig eth1 freq 3
Then, I disabled networking by right clicking on the network manager
icon, waiting a few seconds, then re-enabling networking, I am prompted
for my password, and can connect to the access point as usual.
My wireless card is as follows:
03:03.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network
Connection (rev 05)
