FTR, I tested -ati on an x1650 and an hd2600 both of which worked well, and on a hd4850 which did not (white screen). Maybe the 4850 will work better once the kernel stuff is in.
Yves, you ought to file a separate bug report on your XAA/EXA performance issue.
