In thinking further about this bug, I also this warning often from screem when I try to save a file that I have edited:
"file:///home/tim/public_html/drupal5/sites/all/themes/MyDrupal_Impact/block.tpl.php has changed on disk Reload instead of saving?" in a pop up box with yes / no buttons. I always say no because there should not have been any changes in the files. They were read, but not changed as far as I know... I don't think the webserver (apache2) even has write privileges.
