Sorry, I have no idea what was on /dev/sda1, I've never used that
computer. Evan Dandrea took the screenshot (it's from bug 336755), so I
suggest asking him. ;-)

If Ubiquity exhibits that behavior when a computer's only HD is empty, I
suggest punting the possibility of installing on only part of the disk
to the "Specify partitions manually" option. I don't think it's likely
enough to warrant an explicit option (not nearly as common as shrinking
an existing Windows/Mac partition to install Ubuntu alongside), and even
if it was, it would need completely different text because there is no
"them".
