Would you be willing to test the more recent pre-release of Jaunty 9.04,
currently Alpha 6 - http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/ . If the
issue remains, can you attach your dmesg output after you reproduce the
bug, am just curious if any additional messages might get logged.
