Public bug reported:
Hi.
My girlfriend's mother recently purchased a new digital-camera (Canon EOS
400D). After having taken a few photos they connected the camera to my
girlfriends PC (which still is running Dapper) via USB. The camera was
recognized and all worked fine. Importing the images worked fine as well.
Then they wanted to connect the camera to my girlfriend's mother's PC that is
running Edgy and got the following error-message (camera wasn't recognized,
they couldn't import any photos), [error-message ugly-translated to english
from german, sorry guys ;)): "An error occured with the IO-Library (»Couldn't
use USB-Device«): Unable to use interface 0 (Operation not permitted). Please
ensure that no other program or kernelmodule (e.g. sdc2xx, stv680, spca50x) is
using the Device and that you have read-and-write-rights."
After that i tried to connect it to my own PC which is running Edgy as well. I
got the same error-message. Since my girlfriend did a lot with her Dapper i
thought that either she had any package we (my girlfriend's mother and me)
didn't have that allowed her to use the camera or that there is some bug in
Edgy. Therefore i tried to connect the camera on both, a live-session from an
edgy-cd and on a live-session from a dapper-cd on her mother's PC. The result
is that the error only occurs in Edgy while the camera works fine with Dapper.
I thought that was worth telling you guys, hoping to find any solution to that
because that surely is a bug in Edgy.
Thanks for reading all that stuff.
Happy Holiday.
