Public security bug reported:

ubuntu should automatically tell the user if there are updates
available. i dont always check update manager and there should be some
sort of ubuntu telling the user if there are updates available. i also
miss update manager telling me exactly how many updates are available
and when it was last refreshed [even if there are updates available].
I'm marking this as a security vulnerability because if there is a
security update available, and the user does not know about it, there is
a problem.
