Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kate

I have an FTP site mounted with curlftpfs where editing files fails with
vim (see bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/curlftpfs/+bug/120018), so I
tried kate.

- open the file with kate and edit the file
- click save and the error is "The document could not be saved, as it was not
possible to write to <location>. Check that you have write access to this file
or that enough disk space is available."

The file IS written, however. No backup file is created.

Please have a look at the curlftpfs bug for more info on attempts with
other editors.

Kates actions should be consistent with it's deeds. If the file is saved
but no backup is possible, then this should be the error message. Etc.

Running latest intrepid amd64. Kate 3.1.4 in KDE 4.1.4.

Please let me know if you need more info or other tests performed. Best
way to reproduce this is probably with curlftpfs.

** Affects: kdesdk (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
