With pleasure. Of course kernel integration would be great.

Yet with dkms now easily available, we may already have a sufficient
(temporary) autoinstall solution. The compilation for VT6656 appears quite
straightforward. I'm guessing minor mods to the Makefile and a short
dkms.conf would do the trick. If I didn't find makefiles intimidating, I
would have taken this route for my install!
