I also have problem after upgrade to kernel version 2.6.27-14 in Intrepid, but with rt73usb (tested with Asus WL-167g and D-Link DWA-110 adapters) Sometimes system locks up: no new programs can be launched, no new logins can be done, gui tools, including shutdown, can't be used, ctrl+alt+del from console does not work. But some apps that already running still responding. System can be restarted with SysRq combinations, but sometimes it goes on full lockup and does not respond on anything. There are no logs saved in this period. The only part of "messages" log I've managed to save is just before freeze. It is in the attachment.
Problem occurs either on first or second plug-in of Ralink adapter, or after it's disconnection. Attached log part was saved just after disconnection of adapter. Then first symptoms appeared, then adapter was connected again, after that - half-freeze and no further logs. It seems that in Jaunty Alpha 6 this problem does not exist, but I remember similar lockups in Hardy: when rt73usb was in use, logins and use of sudo was not possible, but after unplugging adapter things were back to normal. Now problem with rt73usb is much more destructive. Because of that recurrence and severe effect on system (blocking of sudo, logins, programs startup) I suggest this problem should me monitored in Jaunty in case of repetition. ** Attachment added: "rt73usb.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24155216/rt73usb.txt -- kernel panic on 2.6.27-14-generic when rmmod iwl3945 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/344539 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
