Update: I used an *Hardy* Kubuntu Live CD on the same computer, and the webcam was recognized by default. The picture under Cheese was correct with proper colors. Possibly interesting note: The picture was color correct ONLY as long as the light was rather dark. As soon as the camera looked into brighter areas (w direct sunshine on them) the colors became pinkish, and the whole picture looked like taken in false-colors.
