I had an idea and did some more testing.

It's enough to run gdm (not logged in) and change the power source (ac<->dc) 
while lid is closed and open it afterwards. I even tried to run xorg with 
minimal xorg.conf with no accelaration, no power management and no loaded 
modules - same effect of crashing after opening the lid.
Is it xorg's fault?
