I have an Canon-Pixma-IP5200R and I am also affected by that problem. I have tested it with the Gutenprint driver and the proprietary Turboprint driver for testing purpose. http://www.turboprint.info/
The problem exists with both drivers. So my conclusion is that the problem is driver independent.
