The 8.2 cluster is indeed running the "nl_NL" locale: /usr/lib/postgresql/8.2/bin/pg_controldata /var/lib/postgresql/8.2/main |grep LC LC_COLLATE: nl_NL LC_CTYPE: nl_NL
