i can confirm also on my ubuntu 8.10 intrepid ibex

But this "freeze" only occurred on the beginning for me in my home directory
(130 files in this directory) and not on other directory with much more files.
I have tried with and without bash-completion and this issue only happen with
bash-completion activated.

After a while this doesn't happen any more and the completion offer
classpath objects for the java command based on what i have on my
folders recursively (or something like that). I don't understand how
this work, but if this is the generation of some caching system who
"freeze" the command line (we can make a ctrl+c to "break the search")
perhaps a message to say that could be added.

I think this bug need more investigation.
