Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg

With version 0.10.6.2-1ubuntu1, gnome-settings-daemon works fine.
Without this package installed it works fine.

But with version 0.10.6.2-1ubuntu2 installed, I get the following:

$ gnome-settings-daemon --no-daemon

ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file:
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstffmpeg.so

Please either:
- remove it and restart.
- run with --gst-disable-segtrap and debug.
Could not initialize GStreamer: Error re-scanning registry , child terminated
by signal

The --gst-disable-segtrap option mentioned in the error message isn't
recognized if I try to use it. This is on Jaunty AMD64.
