Hard to make any guesses without a backtrace and/or more explicit steps
for reproducing the problem, however we've got a fix queued for bug
324465 - you might review that and see if it describes your crashes, in
which case this may be the same as that issue.
If not, then attach a backtrace if you'd like to see this analyzed,
although like you say since this is a binary driver it's not likely much
can be done about it, unless it happens to be an issue in the xserver
like the above.
