** Description changed: I just tried installing the 9.1 driver from ati on my UbuntuStudio Hardy amd64. I was running the 2.6.24-23rt kernel when trying this and the automatic installer failed to install the DKMS kernel modules. So I tried the manual method and got these messages in the fglrx-install.log. Except for this everything seemed as it should in the log so I didn't see any need to attach the entire thing. Removing all DKMS Modules Done. Unpacking replacement fglrx-kernel-source ... Preparing to replace fglrx-amdcccle 2:8.573-0ubuntu1 (using fglrx-amdcccle_8.573-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb) ... Could not locate fglrx.ko for module fglrx in the DKMS tree. You must run a dkms build for kernel 2.6.24-23-rt (x86_64) first. Done. Setting up xorg-driver-fglrx (2:8.573-0ubuntu1) ... Processing triggers for libc6 ... ldconfig deferred processing now taking place The 9.1 driver, as installed above, works when I boot into the 2.6.24-23-generic kernel (after the second try) so it seems the only thing missing is that rt patch. I hope this helps, I would really like to be using this driver with the rt kernel. + + [lspci] + 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] RS780 Host Bridge [1022:9600] + Subsystem: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] RS780 Host Bridge [1022:9600] + 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Mobilitiy Radeon HD 3600 Series [1002:9598] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) + Subsystem: VISIONTEK Unknown device [1545:3994]
