Okay, there are three possibilities how this could be fixed. Since I
don't have the hardware, I'm afraid I need you to test them.
Please download the attached file ("30-keymap-module-thinkpad-acpi.fdi
try #1") and install it with
sudo cp 30-keymap-module-thinkpad-
acpi.fdi/usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/
Then reboot your computer and check (with xev or System -> Preferences
-> Keyboard shortcuts) whether it changed anything. It should produce
XF86Menu now.
