i've been experiencing the same issue with a Gigabyte X38-DS5. after when initiating resume by power-on button, drives and fans started spinning up, mouse and keyboard leds lit, but display kept dark with just a blinking cursor in the top-left corner. i tried to wait it out, but had to hard-reset it after 5 minutes. the following boot was fine with no apparent fs errors. when desktop was ready, i suddenly got the crash notification of the previous suspend/resume issue.
