This is either caused by gmail or an extensions most likely is extension problem
run the following command
firefox-3.0 --safe-mode
if it fixes it it is caused by an extension
I see a few in your browser that could cause this bug.

every time i go to gmail it runs slow and this warning pops up inresonpsive
script then there is this box on it saying contune or stop. Plaese help
