So the deluge of upstream bugs on unprintable PDFs due to non-embeded fonts that do not exist in the target system trying to print the file finally made the OOo developers remove the font embedding options, force font embedding by default and be done with it.
I dunno, I stopped using OOo's PDF generation by the time of 2.0.3 precisely due to the inability of OOo to subset postscript fonts in its output. I've been using extendedPDF since, with excellent results.
