Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I can reproduce this issue, but it's not related to bash-completion
package. This happen also without the bash-completion loaded.

This only happen also with the "~/ " if i try with an absolute path
"/home/me/test..." i have the result expected.

I think this bug have a relation with bug 243489 and bug 247838 but
don't know if it's a duplicate or not

Tested on Ubuntu intrepid ibex 8.10
Package: bash
Architecture: i386
Version: 3.2-4ubuntu1
