[Since Launchpad saw fit to truncate the interesting bit of my comment
in the default view, I'll repeat it so that it's visible in the bug log
without needing to go to "Read more..."]

I think what is happening is some symlink manipulation going drastically
wrong.

libbonoboui2-common 2.24.1-1 ships the following symlink:
lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2009-03-09 10:03 ./usr/share/gtk-doc/html/libbonoboui -> 
../../doc/libbonoboui2-common/html

libbonoboui2-dev 2.24.1-1ubuntu1 newly ships files that install under
/usr/share/gtk-doc/html/libbonoboui. When this is unpacked, the files
get diverted by the symlink to overwrite the old files from the -common
package. Then, when dpkg removes the -common package, it deletes these
files again.
