** Description changed: Every time I restart the PC, a Black strip appears to the left of the screen. A check with System>Preferences>Screen resolution, shows that the Refresh Rate has been reduced at 60 Hz from the previous setting of 75 Hz. I reset it at 75 Hz, but next restart of the PC, the refresh rate returns again at 60 Hz. The monitor is marked always: Unknown. I suspect that it is a Xorg problem. I am attaching the dmesg file Yours, Gaetano Arena PC: HP 1160 with AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Processor. Display: Samsung 193v. kernel: 2.6.28-7-generic.
