Public bug reported:
upgraded from ubuntu 8.10 to ubuntu 9.04 alpha 6. can not get to log in
screen. checked if it was usplash package by editing grub boot line.
found it was not usplash.

file attached was created from a Ubuntu 8.10 liveCD systems' terminal on same
hardware as system with bug.
