Hi micah, Thanks for working on this. I would recommend that you first try and get your kernel patch included in Linus' tree. Once that is available we can work on including your patch in to consolekit.
I'm not at all well placed to review the kernel patch, so taking it to the kernel developers will be a much better use of your time.
