I've been using ubuntu 8.04 (32 bit) on a dell inspiron 531 for a while.
All was fine with kernels up to 2.6.24-19, but since the upgrade to
2.6.24-21, the machine crashes
at every boot. The problem persists even after several minor upgrades in the
2.6.24-21.x series.
