** Description changed:

  System: Hardy Heron on a AMD Athlon X2 4000+ with AMD 790FX SB600 (I
also tried this with Intrepid). If I plug in a usb-Disk or stick, it
appears randomly every other hour that i cant access the usb device
anymore. If I plug it in again, it is not recognized, until I reboot. My
usb-mouse is still working all the time. When i switch off the cool n
quiet feature, it seems so far that the problem is not occurring
  anymore.

  Edit:
Also, setting usb to highspeed (instead of fullspeed) in the BIOS, causes
similar problems. Might be a different problem though. (Only tested on Hardy
Heron) (Mainboard: ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe) (Bios Version: 1301). So disabling
cool n quiet _and_ setting usb to fullspeed works well here.

+ Edit2:
+ More tests on Hardy Heron with BIOS Version 1502:
+ USB works so far with cool n quiet switched on, if only the direct usb
connection is used. If, however, a usb-stick is plugged into a usb hub (here
the hub included in a LG L246WH widescreen was used) the usb stick isnt
mounted. Afterwards, also the direct plug of the usb stick (without extra hub)
doesnt work anymore (until reboot). usb mouse still works though.
