I have the same issue. My .xsession-errors was rather large, so I
thought I would clear it out and reproduce the issue to get only the
relevant logs. Unfortunately, after clearing the file, nothing new is
added to it when I reproduce the issue. Note that I can reproduce the
issue whether I attempt to write to a disc or an iso image.

The error dialog does, however, have a log pane. Here's the output:

--- BEGIN LOG ---
Checking session consistency (brasero_burn_check_session_consistency
burn.c:1956)
BraseroGenisoimage called brasero_job_get_action
BraseroGenisoimage getting varg
BraseroGenisoimage called brasero_job_get_action
BraseroGenisoimage called brasero_job_get_current_track
BraseroGenisoimage called brasero_job_get_tmp_dir
BraseroGenisoimage got varg:
        /usr/bin/genisoimage
        -input-charset
        utf8
        -r
        -graft-points
BraseroGenisoimage stopping
Session error : The file is not stored locally (brasero_burn_record burn.c:2650)
--- END LOG ---
Looks, to me as if the intermediate iso image is not being generated... There
are a bunch of /tmp/brasero_tmp_* dirs (probably one for each attempt I made),
with nothing in them. I assume there should be something in them...
