Aaron, can you get the motherboard maker/model and possibly revision? You may be able to use 'dmidecode' for that.
Also, does the system's BIOS offer the option to configure the Marvell controller for AHCI and if so, does the same thing happen with AHCI enabled? I found this quote: "As far as the Marvell Controller goes. I've only had weird issues with my DVD-ROM that is attached to the single IDE port on the board. As said before, if it's in AHCI mode, then it detects and works under the latest Debian or Ubuntu (sorry, haven't tested Fedora on my desktop system in a while, though I think F10 Beta was the last I installed, and it worked great.)" http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showpost.php?p=1117141&postcount=8 I think the implication of that remark is that even in AHCI mode there can be problems with DVD devices, but it'd be good to know for sure. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => In Progress ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Milestone: ubuntu-9.04-beta => None -- SIL5723 Storage Processor causes SATA delays https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/340692 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
