This problem with Impress still exists in intrepid, using openoffice
.org-core 1:2.4.1-11ubuntu2.1

I'm using an old slow computer so problem is noticeable with even an
extremely simple presentation, ie. 2 slides, each slide has 2 large
words, 5 seconds per slide, no special transitions, repeating with no
pause.

It starts running properly, but over a few hours it gets slower and
slower, may take over a minute a slide.

After it slows down, saving the tiny presentation may take minutes.

Behaviour, returns to normal when OpenOffice is exited and restarted.

Tried PaulK's work around from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/156173

Uninstall openoffice-gnome, no effect, still slows down.

Uninstall openoffice-gtk (and openoffice-gnome which depends on it),
seems to work perfectly, runs for hours at correct speed.

It looks like the openoffice-bugs #87144 was never actually investigated
(problems downloading big pesentation).

The dependence of this problem on openoffice-gtk and openoffice-gnome
probably means it only occurs with distributions using a very similar
configuration. So may not occur with original OOo version.

Please reopen this bug, "Fix Released" is definitely wrong.

Please raise importance as without the work around this make OpenOffice
Impress almost unusable.
