for me with pulseaudio 0.9.14 and the new 0.9.15~test it doesn't work,
when i try to use it with alsa-plugins 1.0.19 i get the following:

"device=a52encode rate=48000 channels=6 sink_name=alsa_surround mmap=0"):
initialization failed.
E: main.c: Module load failed.
but the file is there:
