Just done a new install of Xubuntu. Everything was formatted apart from
my existing /home.
I noticed that my desktop icons kept disappearing, and found the
following in my /var/log/messages:
Mar 28 12:52:16 aslan Thunar: Trash directory /media/A604/.Trash-1000 exists,
but didn't pass the security checks, can't use it
Mar 28 12:52:58 aslan kernel: [ 4553.317900] xfdesktop[8099]: segfault at
16b5000 ip 00007ff6d2cd60ad sp 00007fffe05b98b8 error 4 in
libc-2.8.90.so[7ff6d2c51000+169000]
I'm not sure whether these two messages are related, but I lost my icons
on the desktop, so couldn't easily unmount my media
