Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop

The following behavior is for 8.10 (intrepid), I apologize if it has
already been address in Jaunty:

When a user clicks on System-->About Ubuntu the window it brings up does
not contain information about the current version of ubuntu on the
system. This is different from pretty much every other 'About' dialogue
out there.

Also, I just noticed in the bug filing guidelines below:
"Please include, if possible:
1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu."

so obviously the information was meant to be there; apon more careful
inspection of the about page I see (the only sentance in the second paragraph):
"Thank you for your interest in Ubuntu - the - released in ."

so apparently it's failing to pull the information from wherever it is
meant to get it. This sentence should be bold and larger font to be
consistent with other about dialugues.

Note also that clicking the 'version and release numbers' link only contains
information about the first version (Warty). The "This version" sentence reads:
"This version () was released in so its version number is ."

** Affects: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
