Public bug reported:
After using Ubuntu for months without a problem, now I am all of a sudden
unable to launch any application in gnome.
With the touchpad on my compaq laptop, the gnome menus work well, using single
click to open a menu, and then a second click to lauch the submenu or
application.
With the mouse, the (sub)menus only stay open as long as the mouse button is
depressed.
I would expect the application to be launched at the RELEASE of the mouse
button, but nothing happens then.
I have in the mean time had connected a new logitech cordless Trackman wheel.
I have now checked that this new trackball functions correctly (i.e. just like
with the touchpad).
Apparently shortly connecting the newer trackball has changed something
in the configuration, rendering the system unusable with the normal
trackball.
