To request a backport a bug needs to be raised against the hardy-backports
product, not the ubuntu product:

I'm closing this bug as it doesn't affect the latest version of Ubuntu
and the bug is not severe enough to warrant changing the official Hardy
package. It is appropriate for backporting however so please follow the
instructions above.
