** Description changed: Intrepid & KDE4.2.1 I don't have screensaver enabled but when the computer is left alone for long enough, the screen is locked & then later also the screen is turned off. Desktop computer so closing the lid etc doesn't apply here. Trying to enter the password just results the 'wrong password' message (or similar, can't remember now). Changing to tty2 , log in and killall krunner_lock kills the lock and going back to tty7 lets me use the desktop again. r...@rubert:~/$ locate krunner_lock /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/krunner_lock r...@rubert:~/$ dpkg -S /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/krunner_lock kdebase-workspace-bin: /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/krunner_lock -> package responsible kdebase-workspace-bin? + + This explains something: http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Build/KDE4/Troubleshooting#Locked_sessions + kcheckpass seems to have correct settings: + -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 18840 2009-03-04 20:18 kcheckpass + + Here's some log: + r...@rubert:/etc/pam.d$ ls + atd chfn chsh common-account common-auth common-password common-session cron cups cvs kcheckpass kdm kdm-kde4 kdm-kde4-np kdm-np kscreensaver login other passwd polkit ppp samba sshd su sudo xscreensaver + r...@rubert:/etc/pam.d$ cat kscreensaver + # + # /etc/pam.d/kscreensaver - specify the PAM behaviour of kscreensaver + # + @include common-auth + @include common-account + @include common-password + @include common-session + r...@rubert:/etc/pam.d$ cat xscreensaver + # + # /etc/pam.d/xscreensaver - PAM behavior for xscreensaver + # + + @include common-auth + @include common-account + r...@rubert:/etc/pam.d$ + + - are the missing lines of /etc/pam.d/xscreensaver the problem?
