Right. Just to summarize: 1) With Guest Additions I've noticed no errors. 2) Guest Additions can't be installed as they are on provided ISO, as the installer is not up to date with the newest Xorg. 3) I agree with Ladislav Bonita that this error should not occur if Guest Additions are not installed. Guest Additions are not meant to be the only soultion to use Ubuntu in VirtualBox. They are just to improve the guest OS's usability. However, ubuntu should be able to work without any problem like this just out of the box.
