Hm, sorry for intruding with my xorg on NetBSD/i386 5.0_RC3, on a Lenovo T60 with ATI X1400 graphics.
But ... I was seeing the same symptoms in my setup -- Xorg using inordinate amounts of CPU time. I had an older XFree86 install with the vesa driver to verify with, where the problem did not occur, even though the application mix (xterms, firefox 3) was the same. In my case, I found a workaround for the high CPU load problem: force the radeonhd driver to use the older XAA acceleration method instead of the newer EXA method: Section "Device" Driver "radeonhd" Option "AccelMethod" "XAA" EndSection I suspect the same would help the "radeon" driver as well. I'm sorry, but I don't know more about the underlying reason. Hoping this might steer some folks in the right direction. -- MASTER: xorg high cpu usage, general system sluggishness https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294972 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
